(PRWEB UK) 20 April 2013
Once again, the most prestigious classic car competition in the UK has opened for entries and Lancaster Insurance is pleased to be a part of it for the 4th year. This competition is also in association with some of the largest classic titles and websites in the country; Practical Classics, Classic Cars Magazine, Classic Car Weekly and http://www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk.
Since the Classic Car of The Year began in 2009, it has seen applications increase year on year, as more and more classic enthusiasts are keen to get involved and suggest that they have the best classic in the UK.
So what is the Classic Car of The Year 2013 competition?
The most fantastic thing about this competition is that it isnt all about having the finest example of a rare classic, concourse standard and all original parts. Classic Car of The Year is about championing the humble weekend classic hobbyist alongside the expert restorer. There are so many incredible classic and vintage cars across the nation. Each vehicle has a unique and incredible story to tell, from the modest 1950s Morris Minor to an all American 1960s Mustang Notchback, or perhaps a more racy 1930s Bugatti T35B. Just by looking at CCOTY previous winners and finalists it is possible to see just how diverse the winning cars can be. The overall winner in 2012 owned a stunning Jaguar E-Type and last years winner (2013) was, although not as elegant, was a no less impressive Jowett.
The competition is open from now until 2nd of August 2013 (31st July postal applications) for any classic car enthusiasts wanting to enter one or more of their classics. All entrants need to do is complete the application form at http://www.ccoty.co.uk and include some photos of their pride and joy. Classic car fanatics up and down the country are also invited to get involved in voting for the top 5 classic cars which will commence on the 21st of August for one week. From these 5 semi-finalists, a winner will be selected, and announced at the Classic Motor Show 2013 at the NEC later this year.
Why is the competition so important?
The Classic Car of The Year competition was designed as a way to celebrate classic, vintage and historic cars and all of their individualities. The classic car industry has suffered in recent years for many reasons including the sad fact that to many this is an ageing hobby that isnt appealing to the younger audience. Jackie Rahman, a spokesperson at Lancaster Insurance highlights the importance of the competition to the classic car world: This is a truly unique competition that really shows off what fantastic quality of classic and vintage cars we have across the UK and that each one has a great story to tell. We are so proud to be involved once again in something that is so close to our hearts and that is designed to celebrate and preserve classic cars and their history for many years to come.
Lancaster Insurance Services Ltd, established in 1984, specialises in arranging classic car insurance as well as other general insurance products. Our services are available to residents of the United Kingdom (including Northern Ireland), the Channel Islands and The Isle of Man.
